Statement From the Founder of Aere Network: We Did Not Wait for the Quantum Computer

← Press and Media Center

Monaco, October 2, 2026. Following today’s two announcements, the completion of the post-quantum validator stack on mainnet and the publication of the project’s direction and open-source stack, Aere Network releases the following statement from its founder.

Every blockchain on Earth runs on signatures that a large enough quantum computer will break. That is not an opinion and it is not a forecast. It is the mathematics of the schemes themselves. Nobody knows the date. Everybody knows the outcome. For years the industry’s answer has been a panel, a working group, a roadmap item for later. I found that unacceptable, and in 2026 Aere Network did something about it on a live network, with real value on it, a network that produces a block about every half second.

Here is what we did, in order, and every item has a block number you can check. Native post-quantum signature verification went into the chain at block 9,189,161. From August, every 32nd block has carried a certificate of post-quantum validator seals under its own hash. On September 4 that certificate became hybrid, two independent post-quantum schemes on every anchor. Between September 5 and 7, every consensus message, every vote a validator casts, started to require a post-quantum seal of its author. On September 11 a second, independent implementation of the client joined the validator set and began proposing blocks. On September 22 every node began serving a post-quantum finality signal. On September 23 the chain began accepting transactions signed only with a NIST post-quantum signature, with no classical signature at all. On September 30 the validators themselves stopped being named by classical addresses: in every block header they are now post-quantum identities. Stage by stage, by block height, each stage rehearsed on our public testnet first, each one activated on the running network. Twenty-one million blocks and counting.

I know how this industry talks, so let me be precise about what I am claiming. I am not claiming the chain is decentralized: the Aere Foundation operates all ten validators today, and our own direction page says so in the first section. I am not claiming an external audit: there is none yet, and our daily security score prints that fact, and it is not a flattering number. I am not claiming traffic: usage is low, and every throughput figure we publish is measured, with its date next to it. What I am claiming is narrower and harder: that no other public blockchain today has a post-quantum certificate of its validators under the block hash, post-quantum validator identities in the header and natively post-quantum transactions, all live, all verifiable by an outsider from a laptop with tools we publish. Download the verifier. Run it against the chain. It prints VERIFIED or FAIL, and it does not ask who you are.

That last part is the thing I am proudest of, more than the cryptography. We made a rule early and we have kept it: nothing is called live until it runs on the real network and a stranger can check it with a tool we gave them. Every weakness we find in our own system goes into a public registry with a test that measures it, and nothing leaves that registry because it is inconvenient. When we overclaimed, we published the correction the same day, dated, in every language the claim had appeared in. We publish the list of what we are not yet on the same page as what we are. In an industry that runs on announcements, that discipline is the product. A “yes” from Aere comes with the command to verify it.

What comes next is written on the direction page in three states, and I will only repeat the honest ones. Live is what you can check today. Building is what is proven on the public testnet and not on mainnet: a block header with no classical signature left in it, and verification that runs on a phone. End state is where it goes, and we do not claim it. The next thing we build is for the assets people already hold on other chains, because the quantum problem does not care which chain you prefer; we will announce it when it is measured, not before.

Physics does not negotiate, and neither does a block number. When the quantum computer arrives, and it will, there will be two kinds of infrastructure: the kind that was ready, and the kind that was still scheduling the panel. We decided early which one we would be. Then we made sure you could check.

Verify it yourself

The claims in this statement are the ones carried by today’s two releases, each with its block numbers, and by verifiable-claims.json, which ships with a checker that prints PASS or FAIL. The public verifier of the post-quantum validator certificates is at aere.network/tools; the direction, with its three states and the list of what the project is not yet, at aere.network/vision; the daily security score, with its formulas, at aere.network/security-score.html; the fork history by block number at aere.network/docs/network/forks.

About Aere Network

Aere Network is cryptographic infrastructure built on a public, EVM-compatible Layer 1 (Chain ID 2800): a settlement layer with half-second finality and a fixed supply of 2.8 billion AERE set at genesis, native post-quantum signature verification, post-quantum validator certificates under the block hash, post-quantum validator identities, native post-quantum transactions, and a verification layer, Aere Cloud, for organisations. Its rule is that nothing is called live until it runs on the real network and a stranger can check it with published tools. Documentation, research and source code: aere.network/papers.html.
